It Does Not Have To Be This Way

It doesn’t have to be this way. It doesn’t have to be so difficult. It’s made into such a bigger deal than it is. No really – I’m not exaggerating.

The grimace of the face. The reaction as if one is being tortured. Or the immediate response: “No, no. Not interested”, or “I’m fine right now with what I have.” Are you really fine? Are you telling yourself that? Would you be interested if you really knew the difference between what you are dealing with now and what you could have with just a few steps?

Card processing. Say that three times and its like you are summoning Beetlejuice. The topic everyone hates to discuss but is something so critical to their business and to their finances. 

But does it have to be so painful? Why does it elicit such a severe response from everyone it is brought up to? Because of their previous experiences. Let’s list some of the typical experiences business owners have with card processors and get the ugly part out of the way first.

Lying. Overpromising. Underdelivering. Raising prices. No customer support. Charging you for hardware that you should own outright. Adding meaningless fees. Strangling you with a multiyear contract. Had enough? Wincing yet? I can feel it, you are. I would be too.

All of that above nastiness is the reason that people are so reluctant to look for change in their processing. They would literally prefer being handcuffed to a horrendous provider than explore an alternative that could change the way their business runs, for the better.
